Tree & Shrub Pruning 101
This workshop has been CANCELLED. Spring sprung very early! Oftentimes the best time to prune is late winter or early spring before buds start popping so mid-April will be a bit late for pruning this year. Check back for more pruning workshops in the future!
Come on over to the garden and learn the basics about tree and shrub pruning. Executive Director, Jen Smith, brings her knowledge as an ISA-Certified Urban Forest Professional and will share how, when and why to prune, safety considerations and when to call a professional.
Suggested donation is $10-$15/person. Registration is helpful but not required.

Stargazing in the Garden
The Idaho Dark Sky Alliance (IDSA) invites the community to an evening of learning and stargazing featuring guest presenter Dr. Madeleine McKenzie. Join us at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Hailey Town Center West, followed by an outdoor stargazing session at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden.
Dr. McKenzie will present an engaging talk exploring Ancient Relics of the Milky Way. Her presentation will offer attendees the opportunity to deepen their understanding of theuniverse before heading outdoors to experience the night sky firsthand. Following the talk at 8:30, there will be a guided stargazing night at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden. Dr. McKenzie and local astronomers will lead observers in identifying stars, planets, and seasonal constellations, alongside telescope viewing available as weather conditions allow.
To enhance your viewing experience, be sure to dress warm. While the winter night sky can offer exceptionally clear views, stargazing is weather dependent. If sky conditions are unfavorable, updates will be posted on the Idaho Dark Sky Instagram and Facebook pages prior to the event.
The Seminar and stargazing are co-sponsored by the Idaho Dark Sky Alliance, Hailey Public Library, Sawtooth Botanical Garden, ERC, and Boise State University.

New Moon Sound Bath in the Greenhouse
Settle into our heated greenhouse as sunset turns into a dark, new moon sky and join Bridgette Aldrich in a beautiful co-creation as she weaves together the harmonics of multiple Crystal Singing Bowls. These harmonics combined with energetic alchemy will assist you into a very deep relaxation and alignment of your whole human system.
Crystal Alchemy Singing Bowls are made up of 99.99% pure quartz crystal with differing minerals and gems melted into a bowl-like shape. These Bowls produce a very beautiful, ethereal sound of high frequency energy. These frequencies are so fine that they can permeate every cell of the body bringing emotional, mental and physical relief while entraining the brain into a meditative state. This combined with Bridgette's expertise of Energetic Alchemy will assist you into an expansion of a whole new level of yourself.
Some basic Instructions for getting the most out of your Sound Bath...
~It is best to lie down for the whole experience but not necessary.
~ Each person will have an experience very unique to their Self. This is an Energetic Alignment Session. Some may experience slight discomfort in their physical or emotional bodies as energetic blocks are released. All you need to do is remember to breathe and let them flow through. Same thing with mental loops that have you going round in circles. Just be aware and let the bowls take them away.
~ There are limited yoga mats available at the Garden, so if you have your own please bring it.
~It could be a little chilly! Please bring a blanket, warm layers and a pillow. Comfort is highly encouraged!
We ask for an exchange of $44 for the sound bath. Please reach out to Megan at megan@sbgarden.org if you would like to attend but find this exchange to be a barrier. Space is limited and reservations are required. Reserve your spot here or by calling (208) 726-9358.

Presentation begins at 5:30, and stargazing at 7:30, weather permitting.
To enhance your viewing experience, be sure to bring a warm winter coat, boots, gloves and a hat to stay warm. While the winter night sky can offer exceptionally clear views, stargazing is weather dependent. If conditions are unfavorable, updates will be posted on the Idaho Dark Sky Instagram and Facebook pages prior to the event.
