Hydroponic Gardening Workshop
June 16 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm$25
Introduction to Hydroponics
Join us for our first workshop on Hydroponic Gardening. During this hands-on workshop, we will highlight the many nutritional and economical benefits of growing your own fresh and healthy lettuces, herbs, and fruits year round, all without soil! Learn how plants grown hydroponically often yield more, grow 35-50% faster, require less space, and use 95% less water than those grown in conventional soil-based gardens. We’ll explore various growing systems…from small, counter-top gardens, to vertical towers, to DIY structures that can be built to fit any space. Come discover why hydroponic gardening is quickly becoming the most popular method of urban farming.
Barb Mead, a local valley resident, has enjoyed a 30+ year career as a marketing executive within high technology companies. Her interest in home-gardening led her to explore more reliable, higher yield, and lower maintenance methods, and quickly discovered that hydroponic gardening fit the bill. In addition to building structures for her own garden, she has also demonstrated hydroponic gardening at the Maker Faire, 4H camps, and community youth groups.
